Dear Daddio,

I’m thankful for the kind of relationship we have. I can literally speak to you about anything without feeling awkward. Our relationship has grown tremendously over the years and I couldn’t be happier. As a child I feared you (I was the good child), but as a woman I am thankful to have a father like you. You were always there to defend me and taught me the importance of self defence. You showed me what I should look for in a husband and a father. This could possibly explain my extremely high expectations, but thats ok. You always taught us the meaning of family and hated when your kids would argue. I’ve seen you literally bend over backwards defending your siblings to anyone who dare disrespect them (including your kids). Some may say you’re loyal to a fault, but I think its amazing that my father is the one everyone calls on. You treat your nieces and nephews like your own kids. The amount of respect my cousins have for you reassures me that my mom picked the right guy to have children with.

Because you loved me I overcome, yeah
And I’m so proud of what you’ve become, yeah
You’ve given me such security
No matter what mistakes I make you’re there for me
You cure my disappointments and you heal my pain
You understood my biz and you protected me
I treasure every irreplaceable memory and that’s why

I want
My unborn son
To be like my daddy
I want my husband to be like my daddy
There is no one else like my daddy
And I thank you (thank you)
For lovin’ me (daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy) – Beyonce

I say some inappropriate things at times and I know you kind of wish I had a filter, but theres never judgment in your eyes. We may not see eye to eye at times, but you’ve taught me to stand strong in what I believe in. Dad, I always wondered how your love for music resulted in you having ZERO rhythm (thanking mom for rhythm). I can go on and on about how amazing you are, but theres no need. Family and my friends have the utmost respect for you and admiration (your hazel eyes.. super jelly) and as a daughter I couldn’t be more blessed to call you DADDIO.

Happy Fathers Day,

Ashley
